Nursery's Autumn Term 1 Class Work

This half term we are learning all about ourselves.

With the help of Jigsaw Jennie we have spoken about our emotions and what makes us happy or sad or scared.

We used stickle bricks to make models of ourselves! We had to make sure we had a body, head, arms and legs.

We have been learning about autumn, we went on a walk outside to see what we could spot. We found that all the leaves had fallen off the tree.

We collected things from our autumn walk to bring back to Nursery for our autumn table.

At number time we have been learning how to count and learning how to recognise and write our numbers.

We love to read different stories in Nursery.

We take turns in giving out the milk at snack time. We have to remember to say please and thank you!

We decorated gingerbread men, making sure we have them a nose, eyes, mouth and ears.

We used out fine motor skills to make a model of a hedgehog, we had to pinch, roll and push to create our model.

In P.E. we have been learning to take off and put on our own shoes and socks.

We love to play ring games in P.E.

Nursery's Autumn 2 Class Work

This half term we have been learning about traditional tales and rhymes.

We love to listen to the story while looking at the pictures. We love to pick and read a story to take home for the weekend!

We put on puppet shows for our friends recalling the stories we have read.

We looked at how some people celebrate Diwali, we made Rangoli patterns using shapes.

We then made Rangoli patterns using the computer, we had a go at using the mouse and moving it around, we also had a go at clicking the mouse.

We made masks from our favourite stories, we had to recall the repeated refrains

We celebrated Halloween by: making spooky jelly...

...Playing bob-apple...

...Making spooky masks...

...Making a letter potion, matching the letters to the object that begins with that letter...

...Playing in the spooky ‘s’ sand, finding all things that begin with ‘s’...

...and dressing up and having a spooky Halloween party!

We acted out ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ in the home corner, we pretended to be the bears making the porridge.

We celebrated bonfire night by creating firework pictures. We looked at what happens when two colours mix.

 

We went on a trip to visit Father Christmas! We went to Croxteth Park on the coach, first we visited the farm where we seen lots of different animals, we met a owl that we could stoke, then we fed the baby cows and finally we got to stroke Brain the cow...

...We then found Father Christmas in his Grotto! We spoke to him and told him all the different things that we want for Christmas.

We all wore our Christmas jumpers for 'Christmas Jumper Day'.

We had a Christmas party in Nursery. We danced and ate party food and even had a visit from Father Christmas! 

Nursery's Spring 1 Class Work

This half term we have been learning about patterns and all the different ways we can make patterns.

We started by making colour patterns on the necklace, we had to thread the right colour beads onto the string to create a colour pattern necklace.

We then made colour patterns using the beads, we worked together and helped each other to complete the pattern!

We have been reading a lot of Elmer stories to look at all the patterns in the books! We made our own Elmer by using the collage.

We have been learning how to draw different patterns, we used the skills we have learnt to make patterns in a variety of different ways such as; making our own wallpaper...

... and putting patterns on Elmers’ friends!

We designed our own socks and then collaged the pattern onto the sock!

We designed our own t-shirts using different patterns, we planned our t-shirt on the paper and had to decide whether to use fabric pens, paint or collage on our real t-shirt. When making the t-shirt we had to make sure we followed our plan!

We have been practising our counting and recognising numbers to 10!

We learnt all about e-safety, we spoke about how to keep ourselves safe when we go on our Ipads and tablets at home. We always sit with an adult when using the internet!

We had visitors from Clubmoor come in and show us lots of different instruments. We sang lots of different songs and played along using our instruments!

We love to look at different story books, we use the pictures to tell the story.

We have been practising writing our letter, learning to form them correctly so we can write our own name!

We designed our own pattern onto a biscuit, we had to squeeze the icing tubes with our fingers to be able to create a pattern onto the biscuit. We then ate the biscuit for our snack!

We have been making shape patterns, we had to glue and stick the correct shapes on to follow the pattern.

We made patterns out of fruit! We selected what fruit we wanted in our pattern and then had to push the fruit onto the stick to create a pattern, we then ate our fruit kebabs!

We printed our favourite pattern using the paint and different objects.

We had a pattern party at the end of term to celebrate everything we have learnt about patterns! We wore a pattern on our clothes, made lots of different patterns at different activity stations around Nursery and even made a dance pattern with our bodies, we clapped and stamped and clapped and stamped!

 

Nursery's Summer Term 1 Class Work

This half term we have been learning all about animals!

We have learnt about the environments they live in and what animals need to survive.

 

First we looked at animals that live on a farm, we spoke about who looks after the animals that live on the farm and all of the different things animals need. We role-played using the farm and the different farm animals!

 

We coloured different farm masks...

...and then we made our own pig masks. After drawing our masks we then cut them out by ourselves! 

 

We then looked at pets, we spoke about what animals we could have as pets. We made our favourite pets using the plasticine! We had to use fine motor skills to roll, pull, pinch and push the plasticine to mold it to make our models.

We then spoke about what pets need to stay happy, safe and alive.

 

We have been learning how to match numerals to quantities. We counted out the correct number of animals, out of a larger group, to match to the number! 

We then played a jigsaw game where we had to match the quantity to the number.

 

We then looked at animals that live in the jungle! We spoke about how animals that live in the jungle have to look after themselves. We made our own jungle using paint and rollers, we then used mixed media to create the rest of the jungle.

We then put the jungle up and played with the jungle animals in the sand!

We used the interactive smart-board to draw pictures of our favourite jungle animals.

We made birds using glue, feathers and lots of other collage materials.

We painted our favourite jungle animal. We made sure we used the correct colours. 

 

In P.E. we have been practising how to balance and how to hop!  

We then learnt how to climb up onto the tyres and how to jump off them correctly, bending our knees as we land.

 

We used the Lego to build shelters for the toy animals, we spoke about what made a good shelter and the different types of shelters different animals use.

 

We went on a trip to Knowsley Safari Park! We saw lots of different animals and then watched a sealion show and a bird show. We then went to the safari school where we learnt about different animals and even got to stroke some animals!

We then made posters about the Safari Park, we used mixed media to create all of the different things we saw on our trip.

 

We have been practising writing our names, outside we used water and paintbrushes to 'paint' our names onto the floor!

 

During child initiated play we pretended to be teachers and asked the other children to find different numbers. We are learning to recognise numbers to 10!

We then had a go at writing different numbers in different ways, some used the interactive smart-board and some used pen and paper.

 

We have been learning different ball skills in P.E. We had P.E. outside and learnt how to kick, catch and throw a ball correctly.

 

We then looked at animals that live under the sea! We read the story 'Commotion in the Ocean', then we mixed paint with different things e.g. cous-cous, salt and glue to create different textured paint and then painted the characters in the story.

 

We went on a bug hunt to see what bugs and insects we could find!

 

In music we have looked at different pitch, we learnt the song 'Little Mousy Brown' and played it using the xylophone. 

 

We love outdoor play! We do lots off different things such as; make obstacle courses, play bubbles, use the mud kitchen and play music!

 

We have been practising our writing skills, after drawing our favourite animals we spoke and wrote all about where they live and what they need.

 

We have been learning how to keep ourselves safe in the sun, we talked about using sun-cream and finding shade when it gets too hot. We used an umbrella for shade!

 

We celebrated the Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan by dressing up as princes and princesses or in red, white and blue and having a party outside with Reception!
